Dia here! This week our show is going to focus on movies of the pandemic. Those that didn't necessarily get all the attention they could have, or even have traditional time to show in theaters. And we will talk about the future of movies. The renting, the streaming etc. Are you a fan of theatre to immediate streaming? And one of the craziest things, streaming giants turning into bonafide movie studios! Speaking of, one movie I wanted to highlight that got me through part of the pandemic was, Amazon's "The Sound of Metal." Starring Riz Ahmed and Olivia Cooke. The movie follows a couple in a metal band who go through many hardships when the drummer (Ahmed) starts to lose his hearing. Ahmed's character is a former addict and must join a halfway home for those in the deaf community. The movie is definitely a rec of mine! The sound design is fantastic. We get sounds of cochlear implants and the absence of sound as perspective. When we think of character point of views, we tend to think of visuals. This movie takes us on a visceral audio journey. With heartbreaking performances from Riz Ahmed (nominated for an Oscar for this role) and Olivia Cooke as his partner. Watch the Sound of Metal on Prime Video!
